LG’s last year Android flagship, LG G3 (unlocked international variant) is now getting a small software update in India and many other regions of the world. We got the update here in India yesterday for our Indian variant LG G3 (D855). The OTA update is just over 18 MB in size and the build date is August 26, 2015. It bumps up the firmware version to “V20i” (from older V20h) but is still based on the Android 5.0 Lollipop. It looks like LG G3 will jump directly to Android 6.0 Marshmallow skipping Android 5.1 or 5.1.1 altogether. However you may have to wait for it until March-April 2016 as LG G4 and LG V10 will get the Marshmallow treatment first.
The change-log reads a customary “Usability improvements through Google patch”. We noticed no significant change in UI or performance of the phone after the update. Thus it is one of those bug-fix, security patch updates Google releases every now and then.
You can update your LG G3 either via OTA route (if the notification appears) or via LG PC Suite/LG Mobile Support Tool.
